The healthcare system in Ontario has inconsistent collaboration between primary care and specialized mental health care for clients with severe mental challenges leading to gaps in treatment and poorer outcomes for the client. To address these gaps, the Medical Psychiatry Alliance (MPA) was created in 2014.
The MPA is a collaborative partnership between CAMH, the Hospital for Sick Children, Trillium Health Partners (THP), the University of Toronto (U of T) with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) and a private donor. The goal of the MPA is to transform how mental health care services are delivered for clients by creating new models of integrated care using innovations driven by research. TECC-Y is a project that is focusing on addressing this gap in youth with first episode psychosis.
